Why Creativity in Medicine
Creativity is a vital, yet often overlooked, pathway to healing. While conventional medicine addresses physical symptoms, creative practices – such as art, music, and movement – engage the mind and spirit, fostering deep emotional processing and self-expression.
Creativity shares neural networks with adaptive emotional regulation, enhancing resilience, reducing stress, and improving health outcomes. My research supports this connection, showing that creative engagement can positively influence brain function, mental health, and even physical recovery.
By integrating creative arts into conventional treatment plans, we tap into the body’s innate ability to heal and empower patients to express parts of themselves that words alone cannot capture. Creativity offers a bridge to deeper self-awareness, emotional release, and holistic healing.
